VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — More than 75 volunteers from Naval Air Station Oceana, Dam Neck Annex and NSA Portsmouth recently participated in a two-day coastline cleanup and dune restoration project along Dam Neck Annex’s dunes.

During the two-day event, the volunteers cleared beach debris and placed more than 500 recycled trees.
The trees should become trapped with sand, causing the dunes to become taller, which helps combat erosion. This effort helps protect critical infrastructure and federally protected wildlife, according to Naval Air Station Oceana…
