PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY))– A man faces charges after multiple firearms were recovered following a reported assault in Portsmouth.
On May 30, officers were called to the 200 block of Magnolia Street for the report of an assault. When officers arrived, they located a female victim who stated 43-year-old Tremaine Baskerville repeatedly punched her in the face and choked her while she was on the phone with emergency dispatchers. She also stated that he pointed a silver handgun at her.
During the investigation, officers obtained and executed a search warrant at that property and recovered 10 firearms of various calibers along with ammunition including 9mm, 7.62mm, .357 caliber, .22 caliber, 12-gauge, .38 Special, and .32 S&W Long rounds.
One of the firearms was reported stolen in another city, officials say.
Baskerville was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to him being a convicted felon. He faces the following charges:
- Assault and Battery
- Pointing, Holding, or Brandishing a Firearm
- Possession of Firearms and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon
- Receipt of a Stolen Firearm
