Timeline of Jermiah Copeland’s court hearings ahead of expected plea agreement

NORFOLK, Va. — Navy Seaman Jermiah Copeland is scheduled to appear in military court Monday, nearly one year after he was first placed in maximum confinement following his arrest. Attorneys have indicated he plans to enter into a plea agreement related to the death of fellow sailor Angelina Resendiz, potentially avoiding what had been expected to be a two-week court martial.

On Sept. 8, 2025, 13News Now received court documents from someone close to the case. The documents identified the name Jermiah Copeland as a suspect in Angelina Resendiz’s death for the first time.
