PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — I am only two weeks into my internship now, but I have already been able to experience so many great things! In just these two weeks alone, I have attended and participated in client meetings, trained with some other professionals in the news industry, and attended and worked for the Virginia Association of Broadcasters Summer Convention.
I have attended quite a few meetings during my first two weeks. These span from restoration companies to hair salons to school districts. I have learned about so many industries already.
I have also started training in other departments at WAVY, which is something I really admire about this internship program. Getting to know how the different departments work in a company is very important. So far, I have learned the behind-the-scenes of marketing in news, as well as the process of making commercials in local news.
I was also lucky enough to not only attend the Virginia Association of Broadcasters Summer Convention, but also work for them. I collaborated with their social media team and got to interview some attendees at the convention. I was able to speak with so many nice people, and I received a lot of good advice for a successful career…
