PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The federal government is loaning millions of dollars towards the efforts to develop 45 miles of express lanes in Hampton Roads. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy calls it a transformative investment.
The Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission received a $310 million loan from the US Transportation Department. The multi-million-dollar loan will help fund express lanes and a free-flowing toll system that is already under construction.
