HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — No criminal charges will be filed in connection to a Hampton 2-year-old who died after she found a loaded gun and shot herself last year, according to Hampton police.

On Dec. 13, 2023, officers responded to the 500 block of Marcella Road for a shooting. That’s the Bridgewater at Town Center Apartments. When they arrived on the scene they found a 2-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound.
The 2-year-old was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Police never said how the toddler got a hold of the gun. They also did not expand on the decision not to file criminal charges in this case.
