Oasis Social Ministry in Portsmouth pauses pantry services due to nearby ongoing construction

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Oasis Social Ministry in Portsmouth has paused pantry services due to conditions caused by ongoing construction near the non-profit organization’s facility Monday, according to a post from the organization on Facebook.

In the statement that was posted on April 27, the organization explained that normal pantry operations can’t be conducted safely due to construction that is happening within the same hours as the pantry’s operations. Heavy equipment activity, limited parking access and high pedestrian traffic were all also contributing factors to the organization pausing pantry services.

The organization is now working on a safer and more sustainable food distribution method. The organization also hopes pantry services can start again when it can happen safely…
