Flood watch issued as Mid-Atlantic states brace for more storms

BALTIMORE, Md. — Meteorologists have issued a flash flood watch for Washington, D.C., and large swaths of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, warning that slow-moving storms dropping heavy rain could inundate rivers, streams, and urban centers through Monday evening.

The National Weather Service office in Sterling stated that the combination of a stagnant frontal zone and a highly humid, tropical air mass will settle over the Mid-Atlantic, creating conditions ripe for intense, repetitive thunderstorms.
