Disabled man’s family sues Metro after he spent 6 days trapped in Glenmont station

A judge decided Tuesday that a lawsuit by the family of Rashawn Williams, a man who is nonverbal and has Down syndrome, against the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority can move forward. The suit stems from a 2023 incident in which Williams wandered into an “area of refuge” at the Glenmont Metro station and survived being locked in for six days without food or water.
