The D.C.-area R&B favorite offers an intimate evening to his hometown audience
Nearly 21 years after the release of his debut album, “The Love Experience,” Raheem DeVaughn is still approaching music with the hunger of an artist who believes his finest work remains ahead of him. Now in his third decade as a recording artist, the Grammy Award-winning R&B singer returns to The Birchmere on Aug. 28 for a nearly sold-out 7:30 p.m. performance.
“It’s going to be an amazing show,” DeVaughn said. “What’s unique about a show like The Birchmere is that there are no opening acts or supporting acts. Your fan base is coming specifically to see you.”
That focus suits an artist with a deep catalog and an especially loyal following in the DMV.
