Police: Man responsible for deadly crime spree shot, killed by officers in New Carrollton

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — New Carrollton Police Department (NCPD) officers shot and killed a man believed to be involved in a deadly crime spree across D.C. and Maryland overnight, the department confirmed Tuesday morning.

The shooting is being investigated by the Maryland Office of the Attorney General (OAG).

OAG said the man pulled out two guns when he came into contact with two NCPD officers, who both fired at the man, killing him.

Officials believe the man to be connected to a spree that started late Monday evening and carried into Tuesday morning. It involved several carjackings and shootings in the District and Maryland. Authorities also believe the man may have been experiencing a mental health crisis at the time.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said its officers responded to the 900 block of K St. NW in D.C. around 5:45 p.m., Monday after it received reports of a shooting there.
