15-year-old charged in deadly Northeast DC shooting

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday in connection with a deadly shooting in Northeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Police said officers responded on April 23 around 5:15 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 5300 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. NE.

At the scene, 17-year-old Kenzell Locust was found unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS, where he later died from his injuries.
