WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A special fishing event was held at Hampton Ponds State Park in Westfield to honor Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old UMass Amherst student who was killed in Washington, D.C. last summer.
During the event, Governor Maura Healey presented his diploma to his family and announced a new scholarship fund in his memory. Tarpinian-Jachym, a Granby native, was working as a congressional intern when he was caught in a crossfire shooting in July.
