GREENBELT, Md. (DC News Now) — A violent series of incidents across Prince George’s County on Friday left communities shaken, forced several schools into lockdown, and ended with two people hospitalized and one suspect in custody.
According to Prince George’s County Police, the chaos began around 2:30 p.m. after reports of a man armed with a gun in East Riverdale. Investigators said the suspect crashed a vehicle near 67th Avenue and Patterson Street before opening fire with what police described as an AR-15-style rifle.
The situation quickly escalated into multiple shootings, leaving two people injured. Authorities also say the suspect exchanged gunfire with an off-duty police officer during the rampage.
