If you see large amounts of smoke in the downtown West Palm Beach area Tuesday, there is no cause for alarm.
The West Palm Beach Fire Department, in partnership with Related Ross, is conducting live fire training exercises at 612 2nd Street from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Controlled fires will be set inside the structures, and smoke and flames will be visible throughout the day.
The structures being used for training have been uninhabited for several years and have become locations for vagrancy, criminal activity and ongoing neighborhood concerns. Their deteriorated condition has also negatively impacted the adjacent apartment complex and surrounding community.
