South Florida is staying in a wetter stretch of weather as a slow-moving front drifts into the region, bringing increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week.
Clouds and a developing northeast breeze will keep temperatures somewhat cooler today, with most areas topping out in the low to mid-80s. However, the combination of tropical moisture and a slow-moving frontal boundary will create favorable conditions for periods of heavy rainfall.
Because of the front and the associated moisture, the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has placed coastal Palm Beach County under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall today.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening, particularly over east coast metro areas. Some storms may remain nearly stationary or repeatedly move over the same locations, raising the potential for localized urban flooding.
