The father of a Wellington man killed in a tractor-trailer accident is keeping the name of his son alive by advocating for better trucking safety standards.
Christopher “Mason” Powell lost his life in May 2025 at age 23 in a steer-tire blowout crash on Interstate 75 in Georgia when he was driving home to Wellington. Three people, including Mason, were killed as a result of the crash when the driver lost control of the truck and came across the median.
The tragedy inspired his father, Chris Powell, to create the nonprofit Unit 555 to advance transportation safety reform and support grassroots efforts for families impacted by serious traffic accidents…
