West Palm Beach relief drive collects supplies for victims of Venezuelan earthquakes

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A local relief drive is launching Monday in West Palm Beach and aims to support families devastated by the catastrophic twin earthquakes in Venezuela.

According to previous reports, the dual 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude tremors struck back-to-back on June 24, shattering infrastructure across Caracas and La Guaira.

Latest estimates of the death toll have surpassed 1,430, with thousands injured and nearly 69,000 people still reported missing as rescue operations continue, according to AP News.

With regional resources completely overwhelmed, South Floridians can drop off life-saving supplies at a West Palm Beach collection hub starting tomorrow morning.
