‘Kind of scary’: Firefighters deploy boat to rescue flood-stranded family in SW Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita Fire Department deployed boats to rescue a family that was stranded on a property near MacArthur and Maize Road, in southwest Wichita.

Water nearly submerged an unoccupied pickup out front of the house, in which six members of a family and several pets were stranded. Taking a couple of trips down a driveway-turned river, firefighters successfully brought everyone to dry land.

At the scene, 12 News spoke with one of the rescued occupants of the home, a teen who expressed her gratitude to the fire department…
