Have you heard clucking next door? Or the occasional “moo” from a cow? Or maybe you’ve noticed the smell of fresh manure?
If so, you might be wondering if your neighbor is following the law — and if you can report them.
In Wichita, city ordinance allows residents to keep the following animals in their homes or on their property without a permit:
- Up to three dogs
- Up to three cats
- Up to two rabbits
- Up to three fowl (domesticated or wild birds, including hens, ducks, geese and parrots)
- Up to three pigeons
“Owning more than three kinds of animals, regardless of number of animals, requires the owner to obtain an animal maintenance permit,” city ordinance says.
