As the early-afternoon sun baked downtown Wichita on Thursday, William Kimball laid on his back to catch some rays at Naftzger Park.
With the heat index nearing 107, another in a long stretch of hot days in Wichita, the park was empty except for Kimball, 20.
“I woke up this morning and was trying to think back to the last time I just bathed in the sun,” Kimball said. “We’ve been getting a lot of sunlight lately and I wanted to take advantage of it. I work a standard nine-to-five job at a bank, so I’m usually inside.”…
