The stubborn heat is almost ready to end, but we will have to sit through another hot one across most of the area today.
A few showers and storms in the evening move toward western and northern Kansas. One or two could be strong.
A cold front drops in on Saturday, with the northwest turning cooler first. Still expecting to bring the heat with highs approaching the century mark closer to Wichita.
The front sparks a round of strong storms through southern and eastern Kansas Saturday evening before more widespread activity develops into Saturday night.
Storms Saturday will be capable of producing damaging winds and hail. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible with isolated flooding.
After the front passes, we can breathe a sigh of relief. Rain chances linger into Sunday with highs taking a marvelous, long lived dip to the 70s through much of next week.
Off and on rain chances will also appear as we get into a more active weather pattern.
