The Wichita airport is hoping to add a nonstop flight service to somewhere along the East Coast.
The effort is, at least in part, made possible through a $1 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program, according to a Sept. 18 news release from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. The funds are to be used to pursue a new service to the East Coast.
“This grant gives us another important tool as we continue advocating for the air service our community needs,” Jesse Romo, director of airports, said in the release. “Access to an East Coast hub would provide Wichita travelers with another valuable nonstop destination while opening additional one-stop connections throughout the East Coast and beyond. We are grateful to the community partners who supported this application and helped demonstrate the demand for expanded air service in south-central Kansas.”…
