Wichita Flags of Freedom fundraiser honors service members

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — United Way of the Plains is opening an annual fundraiser to pay tribute to service members.

In a press release on Wednesday, the nonprofit said the Flags of Freedom campaign allows loved ones to purchase a flag and a certificate to honor a member of the armed forces, current or former. The certificate will include the honoree’s name, branch of service, rank and a personal message.

The dedicated flags will be part of a two-week display from May 11 to Memorial Day. Volunteers will put up more than 500 American flags in a field outside of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge #70…
