KDHE orders Kansas mall to stay closed during repair

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Central Mall in Salina is keeping almost all of its stores closed after an order from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The KDHE responded to a request from KSN on Tuesday, saying it had issued a verbal cease-and-desist order after a recent construction site inspection inside the mall.

It said the mall would be closed until a notice of demolition is finished and asbestos testing is performed. After those items are completed, KDHE will determine if the mall can reopen.
