Slushy, wet snow mixed with rain this morning near the Colorado state line. Snowfall totals in Kansas were meager, but were heavier to the west.
In Kansas, a steady, soaking rain brought at least some drought relief with many places collecting between 1/2″ and 1″.
A few spotty showers remain to the west this evening. Any remaining moisture heads for the exit overnight with clouds breaking.
It will be cold with lows from the 20s to the upper 30s.
The coldest will be over Western Kansas. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are posted for this chill into Thursday morning.
Sunshine will dominate most of Thursday with afternoon temps rebounding to the 70s.
Thursday night, a system will create a few showers over northern Kansas.
As this swings through the area, it may not clear in enough time for new showers and storms to form East of the Turnpike by early Friday evening. Temperatures will also return to the 70s and 80s on Friday.
On Saturday, another system is set to sweep through the state.
It will pop scattered showers and thunderstorms the second half of the day. Activity will be favored mainly over our central and eastern counties. Moisture is meager but there is some instability to work with for a few stronger storms that could contain larger hail.
Highs in the afternoon spike to the 80s with some near the Oklahoma state line breaching the 90 degree mark. Cooler air is expected for Sunday before the warmth cranks early next week.
Highs bounce back to the 80s on Monday with several in the 90s on Tuesday. A few showers and storms may gather on Tuesday ahead of a better chance for storms late next week.
