Temps trend down a tad across Kansas today

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a cooler morning across Kansas with wake-up temperatures in the 40s and the 50s, and the day ahead will follow suit. While highs this afternoon in the lower to middle 80s are a few degrees cooler than Tuesday, but they are also five to ten degrees above average.

Southerly winds, higher humidity, and (record/near record) heat return on Thursday and will stick around through Sunday. Highs in the lower to middle 90s may feel a degree or two higher when you factor in the humidity, especially on Friday and Saturday.

While a storm or two is possible on Thursday, mainly over central Kansas, the main event will take place this weekend. Isolated to scattered storms on Saturday afternoon/evening will be replaced by numerous showers and storms on Sunday afternoon and evening. Any storm this weekend could be severe with very large hail, intense wind gusts, and heavy rainfall all possible.
