Kansas man faces federal arson charge in fire at Wichita duplexes

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas announced on Wednesday that a Kechi man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of arson and various firearm offenses.

Johnny Griffith, 34, is charged with one count of arson, three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and one count of possession of an unregistered firearm.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Griffith allegedly set fire to duplexes in south Wichita in October 2024 and has been accused of several gun-related crimes.

Prosecutors said a 22-year-old Wichita woman allegedly helped Griffith obtain a firearm. She is charged with one count of aiding and abetting possession of a firearm by a convicted felon…
