Two University of Delaware programs seek to increase youth involvement in state government

DOVER — Delaware has a voter turnout problem, and it’s one that’s shared nationally: many young people don’t vote.

This is especially true at the state government level, where almost every representative district saw a much lower voter turnout for those under 21 than any other age group during the 2024 election, according to a report from the Delaware Department of Elections.

Looking specifically at Dover’s three representative districts, 59% of registered voters under 21 in District 29 voted; 44% voted in District 31; and 38% voted in District 32…
