Charges Held for Court, Bail Denied for Man Accused of Fleeing Oil City Crash Scene

VENANGO COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — A Delaware County man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he rear-ended a vehicle at a red light in Oil City and fled on foot to avoid capture for outstanding warrants.

According to court records, 26-year-old Joel R. McClellan, of Chester, Pa., appeared for a preliminary hearing on May 6, where he was held for court by Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on the following charges:

  • Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, Felony 3
  • Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Misdemeanor 2
  • Accidents Involving Death or Injury While Not Licensed, Misdemeanor 2
  • Accident Involving Damage to Attended Vehicle, Misdemeanor 3
  • Six summary traffic violations

The charges were transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.
