WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Ocean rescue teams completed 33 rescues at Wrightsville Beach over Memorial Day weekend as dangerous rip currents created hazardous swimming conditions.
The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department said its Ocean Rescue division also located nine missing persons, responded to seven medical calls and completed 270 preventive actions throughout the holiday. Rescue teams provided two mutual aid responses by jet ski.
