Leland Town Council discusses potential e-bike regulations

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Leland Town Council discussed potential regulations for e-bikes and electric scooters during its meeting on Monday, following continued reports of unsafe riding.

Council members discussed several safety concerns during the June 15 meeting. Residents reported e-bike riders on paths not slowing for pedestrians. One social media complaint described an e-bike nearly striking people. A motorized skateboard rider was reported for traveling over 25 mph in a residential neighborhood near pedestrians.
