OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) – Survey crews began work Monday, June 22, to assess Oak Island’s stormwater system.
The two crews from Ardurra Group North Carolina will conduct a stormwater infrastructure condition assessment and modeling evaluation, according to the Town of Oak Island. The work will support the development of a capital improvement plan focused on flood mitigation.
Workers will survey ditches, pipes, outfalls, catch basins and driveways throughout the town. Crews in marked vehicles will work in town rights-of-way and other areas related to stormwater management.
Work will begin in the eastern portion of the island and move westward, officials said. The town asked residents not to stop or interrupt workers during fieldwork…
