LGC approves $2M for new Calabash town hall

RALEIGH — The Local Government Commission approved a $2 million installment financing contract last week for the Town of Calabash in Brunswick County to relocate its town hall. Town leaders in Calabash stated its current town hall does not adequately balance workforce capacity with community needs.

The Town of Calabash will support the $2 million with an additional $1.1 million, totaling $3.1 million. The project marks an end to the town’s 15-year period of being debt-free.

“It’s needed. It’s been a long time coming,” said Calabash Town Administrator Michael Price. “I’m just happy that it’s coming in such a way that’s going to save the taxpayers a lot of money over the life of the loan.”…
