RALEIGH, NC — A new day is ahead across North Carolina, with a stalled front remaining in control of the state’s weather Saturday, according to the latest forecast. Showers and even some thunderstorms moved through the state during the morning hours, with coverage expected to become less numerous and more isolated from west to east through the afternoon and evening.
Western North Carolina Sees Coolest Readings
High temperatures are running cooler across western North Carolina Saturday, with Highlands among the coolest spots in the state at 71 degrees. Cashiers followed closely at 72 degrees, while Murphy registered 79 degrees and Franklin 79 degrees.
Boone and Banner Elk are forecast at 73 degrees, with Asheville expected to reach 77 degrees. Marion and Marshall are forecast in the mid-70s, while Sylva and Robbinsville climb to 80 and 81 degrees respectively.
Central Areas See 70s To Low 80s
Central North Carolina is expected to see highs mostly in the upper 70s to low 80s Saturday. Greensboro and Winston are forecast at 78 and 77 degrees, while Raleigh reaches 79 degrees and Charlotte climbs to 80 degrees. Durham and Statesville are expected near 78 and 79 degrees, with Fayetteville forecast at 81 degrees.
Sanford and Troy are expected to reach 79 degrees, while Monroe and Pinehurst climb into the low 80s.
Eastern And Coastal Areas Slightly Warmer
The warmest temperatures Saturday are expected across eastern and coastal North Carolina, where a little more warmth is expected along with scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms farther east. Wilmington and Bald Head are forecast to reach 82 degrees, with Ocean Isle and Southport also near 82 degrees.
