WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Families from across southeastern North Carolina gathered Saturday at the Martin Luther King Center in Wilmington for Teen Summit 20, hosted by the nonprofit Better Is Possible CDC.
The event included leadership panels, music, food, giveaways, and community resources. Teens had the opportunity to connect with mentors and community partners.
From gun violence to mental health
Teen Summit 20 marks the organization’s 20th annual summit. Brandon Hickman, a founder of the program, said it began in March 2006, following a series of murders in Wilmington involving people all under the age of 21.
