A rezoning by New Hanover County leaders this week allows plans for a new PNC Bank branch to move forward on Market Street.
The bank is proposed on a nearly one-acre property at 8086 Market St., the current site of Uptown Market, a store that sells furniture and a variety of other goods. The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved rezoning the site from an I-1, light industrial district, to a conditional B-2 or regional business district at its regular meeting on Monday.
Adam Williamson of NWF Acquisitions LLC submitted the rezoning application. Developers plan to take down the existing 10,000-square-foot building occupied by Uptown Market and construct a new 3,000-square-foot bank building with a drive-thru in its place, Amy Doss, a county development review planner, told commissioners.
