SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – Dosher Memorial Hospital collected more than 10,000 narcotic pills and over 1,300 milliliters of narcotic liquids during its 30th semiannual Operation Medicine Cabinet on April 1.
Organizers said the event drew 270 households that discarded expired or unwanted medications. The collected drugs were sorted and transported from the hospital for incineration.
“We are very encouraged by the community response to Operation Medicine Cabinet,” said Dosher President and Ceo Lynda Stanley in a Facebook post. “The volume of medication collected reflects a shared commitment to safety, prevention, and responsible stewardship of prescription drugs.”…
