WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A new statewide campaign is pushing to modernize North Carolina’s government-controlled liquor sales system, which organizers say has not kept up with the state’s growth.
The “Free Our Spirits NC” campaign targets laws dating back to 1937 that created local ABC boards and a state commission. That system has grown to 171 local boards across the state’s 100 counties.
