‘South End’ of Topsail Beach now to be managed by the state, after years of controversy

TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The south end of Topsail Beach — one of the last privately owned, undeveloped barrier-island tracts in North Carolina — is now state-managed land.

After a yearslong effort by neighbors and conservation groups, the roughly 100-acre area known as The Point is being transferred from the N.C. Coastal Land Trust to the state’s Division of Coastal Management.
