Some things are more than they appear at first glance, and what may seem like an unassuming short half-mile trail along the edge of Hills Farm Pond in Shrewsbury is the path that will take you to the Secret Garden, a combination outdoor art gallery, fairy-tale shrine and green oasis beneath tall trees.
Not that it’s easy to miss the art even while walking by the pond. Even as you enter from the northern trailhead on Cherry Hill Road, you’ll begin running into stone carvings: a rabbit holding two fistfuls of roses, an owl, a floppy-eared basset hound, two children reading on a bench…
