LUNENBURG – The community is mourning after the loss of Haddie Boucher, a 7-year-old Lunenburg girl who had been battling a rare form of cancer known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
Haddie was diagnosed in early 2025 with an inoperable brain tumor. The first grader at Lunenburg Primary School “filled every room she entered with light, laughter and love,” her obituary says. Many of her classmates are now wearing bright green butterflies clipped to their bags, shirts and in their hair in honor of their friend.
While gray is traditionally associated with the childhood cancer, it was a bright green color that symbolized the “Hope for Haddie” campaign. That color now decorates much of the Lunenburg and Leominster communities in bows, ribbons, lights, bracelets and signage…
