Town study committee could reshape Grafton Common traffic

GRAFTON – Grafton’s bucolic Common is the subject of a new study.

The Select Board on July 7 authorized the creation of a Grafton Common Traffic Study Committee. The committee will include one Select Board member, one Planning Board member, and three at-large members. Town Administrator Evan Brassard and Director of Planning Christian D’Emilia will be non-voting members.

The committee will review the Grafton Common Traffic and Safety Study, completed by Stantec Consulting Services, and strategically analyze the study’s recommendations, using them as the basis for the development of a strategic plan for change and improvement. The committee will hold (at least) two public hearings and produce a final report.

The 2025 study identified several issues with the traffic pattern around the Common, including speed limits that create confusion, obstructed sight lines, and unclear signage. The area surrounding the common sees nearly 9,000 vehicles daily…
