SHREWSBURY – It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … an Amazon delivery drone?
According to Town Manager Kevin Mizikar, Amazon is planning to launch delivery drones from its facility on Otis Street in Westborough. The 5-foot-by-5-foot drones can fly for miles, allowing them to reach almost all of Shrewsbury, he told the Select Board on August 12.
Amazon’s MK30 zones are six-blade, 5-foot-by-5-foot, cutting-edge drones. The drones can take deliveries over 7 miles from the Otis Street delivery center, moving at approximately 60 to 75 miles per hour.
