BOSTON (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Environmental Police have issued warnings following recent enforcement actions against individuals violating blue crab size and possession regulations.
The Massachusetts Environmental Police said that state regulations require blue crabs to be at least five inches wide, with a daily limit of 25 per person. Blue crabs also cannot be taken with trap gear or if they are bearing eggs.
Violators could face hundreds of dollars in fines, including a monetary fine for each crab. Officers will continue patrolling waters to enforce these rules and protect local marine resources.
