1,200 acres of forest preserved as deals with timber companies conclude

AMHERST — Kestrel Land Trust and Mount Grace Land Trust now have permanent control of 1,200 acres of western Massachusetts timberland.

The forests will now remain forests forever, Kestrel said in a news release this week. They will be open to the public for back-country recreational use.
