Gabriel Dias De Holanda, 19, is facing charges of manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the Worcester County District Attorney said. He is expected to be arraigned sometime on Monday, May 6.
Dias De Holanda is accused of killing 18-year-old Jacob O. Osanya, of Uxbridge, in an Aug. 6, 2022, single-car crash on Glenview Way, Upton police said. Osanya was pronounced dead at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after being trapped inside the vehicle.
Five people were in the car at the time of the wreck, and all were sent to the hospital with injuries.
Police found several Blue Moon bottles next to the crashed car, but it is unclear if Dias De Holanda had been drinking before the wreck.
Days after the crash, Dias De Holanda fled the country to his homeland of Brazil. Brazilian officials will not extradite a naturalized citizen
