After severe thunderstorms rocked parts of western and central Massachusetts on Tuesday evening, more than 10,000 people were in the dark.
There were 11,395 customers experiencing power outages at 8:30 p.m., according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Most of the outages were concentrated in the Northampton area — all of nearby Goshen and Williamsburg were in the dark, according to the agency’s power outage map.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the widespread outages in the towns, but Northampton was one of the communities in the crosshairs of Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms…
