Rain to soak Saturday across Mass., but forecasters say brighter days ahead

A soaking rain will dampen Massachusetts on Saturday — but forecasters say the gloomy stretch may be short-lived, with sunnier and warmer conditions possible in coming days.

Clouds will increase across the state overnight on Friday as temperatures drop to the mid-30s in Western Massachusetts and low 40s for the rest of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is set to begin after 11 a.m. in Springfield, noon in Worcester and 1 p.m. in Boston. The showers will continue throughout the day, with Western and Central Massachusetts set to receive up to half an inch of precipitation.
