Worcester, MA Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, Inc. (CMHA) held the groundbreaking of a transformative project in collaboration with the City of Worcester and SV Design. The renovation of the existing 20,000 s/f mill building at 134 Gold St. will revitalize the historic structure, creating a drop-in style day center, complete with essential resources and programs for the local community. This project aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the homeless population in the city, addressing an urgent need for supportive services.

Allegrone has been selected as the contractor for this project, bringing their expertise to ensure the renovation meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The first floor of the new facility will house a Day Resource Center, equipped with essential amenities including warmth, showers, laundry facilities, and a commercial kitchen. This center will serve as a welcoming space for clients to access technology for telehealth, resume building, and skill development, with case managers available to assist in securing housing and employment. The first floor will also feature two consultation rooms, designed to facilitate local partnerships that provide mental and physical wellness services to clients.
